Every year there is almost more speculation over who will be on the judging panel of ‘The X Factor’ rather than who will actually win the competition and looking at the X Factor this year, it’s not hard to see why.
Now stick with us as we start to divulge…
Here is what the judging panel looked like last year as part of Simon Cowell’s mega ‘re-vamp’ of the show;
Now it’s old news that Dermot O’Leary was given the boot as part of Cowell’s re-vamp and was therefore replaced with former Xtra Factor presenters Caroline Flack and Olly Murs, but after THAT presenter blunder and dwindling viewing figures, it was revealed earlier this year that Dermot was indeed back for the 2016 series of the show (Yes, the hugs are back).
THAT awkward blunder
The show then faced another set back as it was revealed that Nick Grimshaw decided not to renew his contract after revealing it was something he only “wanted to do once” – fair play to him for sticking to his word, that’s one thing ticked off the bucket list I suppose.
Next we move on to the princess of Newcastle and X Factor veteran/executive producer Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. Cheryl has had some-what of a difficult relationship with Simon Cowell and the X Factor, and after finally making peace with both parties in 2014 with a triumphant return to the show – she has opted out of the 2016 series to work on her music career… Personally, I will miss the Geordie princess, but then again – remember when she quit the show in 2012? She brought us the phenomenal album that was ‘A Million Lights‘ so I am at peace with this decision.
Cheryl doing what she does best
To add salt to the wound, the only judge who seemed to be the soul companion along side Cowell was ‘Hot Right Now‘ singer Rita Ora… but it was revealed very recently that she would not be returning for the next series. Reasoning behind this include filming commitments for the next installment of ‘50 Shades of Grey‘ in which she could not get out of.
So there we have it! Cowell was left all by himself. Hang on a moment… who is a sure fire “It’s a yes from me” judge?
You got it… Mr Louis Walsh.
Typically, Louis was the first judge to be confirmed to be returning to the panel, this comes from rumors that Cowell regretted his decision to give him the chop from the last series and signing up Nick Grimshaw to take his place (I thought that was beneficial to be honest, you can’t get more irrelevant than Louis Walsh).
Now this leaves 2 seats on the judging panel, and it seems as though Louis had expressed his opinion of who his perfect panel would consist of, which was Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne; and it seems as though his dreams are about to come true.
Yes, that’s right, after weeks of speculation Nicole Scherzinger is returning to the X Factor… but this wasn’t confirmed by the X Factor team themselves, but randomly by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. Webber stated in an interview “A week before we were due to go into rehearsal for Cats on Broadway, she calls me and says she’s decided she wants to do X Factor” he told the Economist Radio. #Awks – Showbiz’s worst kept secret.
The billing of Sharon Osbourne as the 4th and final judges comes from speculation of her working with Simon Cowell again on a “UK TV Show” Cowell reportedly said in an interview “I think she and I are going to work on a show together in the UK.” and seeing as BGT is almost over, The X Factor is a sure thing. Also, we know how much Cowell like controversy on that show, the whole scandal including Sharon and Ozzy’s marriage would see viewers everywhere tuning in; heck there were even reports of controversial couple Cheryl and Liam joining the panel (Which I wouldn’t put passed Cowell at all)
So there we have it, the predicted Judging panel of ‘The X Factor’ 2016! Filled with judges from over the entire franchise. Are you happy with this line up? Does it feel like old times? Or were you hoping for something different? Let us know in the comments below!
